PC Tools employs over 200 people globally and has branch offices in the United States, United Kingdom, Ireland, and the Ukraine. Concerning the merger deal, there will be no changes in PC Tools employees or their status positions.
What's more, PC Tools is going to keep separate operations within Symantec's consumer business unit, with Simon Clausen, PC Tools CEO. Further more he is going to lead the team and report to Janice Chaffin, Symantec Group President of Consumer Products.
So far, Symantec has released software products such as Spyware Doctor, Registry Mechanic and Desktop Maestro, as well as Threat Fire, a Malware protection add-on for computers designed to bolster AV security. Another PC Tools offering is an anylysis tool called Threat Expert. It is a Malware analysis tool enabling anyone to submit questionable files that can be scanned, and also receive a detailed report back showing the results of the scan analysis. Moreover, PC Tools also introduced an OS X-based AV scanner earlier this year.
Though, no financial details were revealed by either company the contract is expected to be complete by the end of the year.
