windows7-release.jpgMicrosoft’s new operating system Windows 7 is trying to fix and remove many of Vista's problems and by introducing new features. Also, Windows 7 enables Microsoft to compete with a new generation of Internet-based systems that challenge its worldwide domination.

At first sight, Windows 7 seems to be similar to Vista. However, Microsoft talked about many enhancements. According to Ozzie, Microsoft's chief software architect, the system is going to be faster and easier to use. He also said that Windows 7 is set to contain hi-tech bells and whistles as support for a new generation of multi-touch screens. They let people use their fingertips and small hand gestures to control applications on their PCs.

With the change of brand from Vista to Windows 7, some new features and modifications are coming. Microsoft proclaims the fact that they think Windows 7 is going to modernize the tasks that people do most frequently with improved navigation, a fresh taskbar and a new user interface. Part of the modernized operations include moving things to the Web. The next version of Office is taking important steps towards the Web. Ozzie showed a version of Microsoft Office using the Internet for storing files and enabling users to pick up their documents from any on-line computer.

Additionally to sharing and editing documents on the Web with Office, Microsoft is paying attention to the integration of its Live Services platform into Windows 7. Live Services are tools such as Hotmail or Web Mesh. The company hopes they are going to synchronize information across devices and between business and recreational functions.

According to Microsoft, Gadgets and Cameras are going to include expanded support. Phones and printers were highlighted as "in line to get an interoperability face-lift". Multi-media devices such as music and video players are going to help customers personalize their PCs. The program will also work with other electronic devices. Therefore, users will be able to either transmit digital music from a PC to a stereo, or relay digital video to a nearby TV. windows-vista-crossed.jpg

Microsoft indicated that they have substantially lowered disk I/O in Windows 7. The disk appears when reading the registry, boosting power saving, boot speeding and responsiveness. Those upgrades shouldn't be overlooked. Windows 7 eliminates the sidebar that enables users to place gadgets directly on the desktop. Two windows may be viewed side by side. There are Jump Lists for easier file search. Also, there are Libraries that functions by performing searches across a variety of data. Taskbar got a graphical update.

MS Paint got an update. The little program which appears to have never changed now has its own recognition as one of the selling points of the Windows 7. The Web integration looks like the way to go. The boot times could be quicker and overall the OS could be more responsive.
