PC is acting Wierd

Postby Aurimas on Mon Jan 12, 2009 9:03 am

8-) I don't know what is wrong with my PC. Ever since the holidays it has been acting really strange. It freezes up and sometimes I get the Blue Screen of Death. I am not sure what to do?

It is a free program that analyzes the points of execution in your machine.
It shows you what will run automatically. You can download it here: http://www.download.com/Trend-Micro-Hij ... 27353.html
please download it, run a scan and post the log in this forum so I can have a look at it.

Things look pretty good with your PC. It doesn't appear to be a Malware Infection present from what I can see in these logs.

However there is one program I see that has come up as a potentially unwanted program. It sometimes comes bundled with other things. You may want to uninstall ViewPoint.

If you want to get rid of it, you can do it like this:

Start > Run and copy/paste or type: taskmgr

* Under the Processes tab find the following tasks or processes:
ViewpointService.exe
ViewMgr.exe
* Highlight and click "End Process".
* Exit Task Manager.

Start > Run and type: services.msc

* Press "OK".
* Click the "Extended tab".
* Scroll down the list. Find the service called "Viewpoint Manager Service"
* Find the service, double-click on it.
* In the Properties Window > General Tab that opens, click the "Stop" button.
* From the drop-down menu next to "Startup Type", click on "Disabled".
* Now click "Apply", then "OK" and close any open windows.

OR THE EASIEST WAY WHICH I RECOMMEND

Click on Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs > highlight and remove all references to Viewpoint - i.e. Viewpoint, Viewpoint Manager, Viewpoint Media Player.

Finally, delete the following folders if they still exist:
C:\Program Files\ViewManager\ <-- and delete this folder
C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\ <-- and delete this folder
