Axiom Software, the major developer of enterprise solutions for electronic and fastener parts distribution companies, has announced that in October, it is going to launch the latest version of its Electronic Parts Distribution Software (EPDS), version 9.1. It is the first version of EPDS which complies with Windows Vista.
An all-in-one enterprise solution, EPDS integrates front and back office operations seamlessly. The system is designed to optimize operations, share information effectively, analyze the health of a business, create customer loyalty and enhance satisfaction.
The functions of the system is to manage, track and monitor operations from the first client call through to the end of the shipment process. In order to see all information concerning a certain customer, item or vendor along with the ability to research more specific information, it supplies a number of 'flash inquiries'. A unique instant messaging feature that links system information to a message allows users to communicate with one another instantly and effectively.

According to Jeffrey Yagoda, president of Axiom, EPDS version 9.1 was developed in direct response to customer feedback. He added that their system allows customers to be more productive by providing them tools in order to sell better, purchase smarter, count better and manage their inventory better. Yagoda concluded that as customers raise their efficiency and grow, they are able to maintain their bottom line without having to raise operating costs.
EPDS version 9.1, which is now in beta, includes the following new features:
- Enhanced Cycle Counting Process using ABC classification to choose items automatically for being counted;
- Export Master Data allows any data from EPDS to be exported into Microsoft Excel for further evaluation and analysis;
- Allocate Expenses automatically by Profit Center when recording vendor invoices supplies faster entry and greater accuracy for the distribution of expenses;
- New A/R Aging By Branch Option enables accounts receivable information to be printed by branch, allowing companies to manage their customer receivables by location; and
- Customer Ranking features allow users to rank customers based upon user classified criteria.
- Customer ranking allows the user to make better decisions about product allocations, quoted delivery times, pricing and recognizing the top drivers of gross margin.
Other new features comprise of:
- Order entry warehouse priority;
- Shipping option to ship backorder complete;
- New support for self insurance;
- Added ability to print address shipping labels during order fulfillment;
- Automatic reservation and/or transfer of inventory from counter sales;
- Freight calculator option during shipping process;
- New summary options for cash receipts journal;
- Ability to classify items by manufacturer series or product line;
- Added process and reporting for meet competitor contracts functions; among others.
