Dell Inspiron Mini 12 Vista Net-book Introduced!

Author: Egle | Files under Windows Vista registry

DellMini12_1.jpgDell announced a new Inspiron Mini 12 net-book. The Dell Inspiron Mini 12, a larger version of the Mini 9, debuted yesterday, in Japan. The Mini 12 is officially the first net-book that is able to house a 12-inch wide-screen. Dell exclusively agreed with all Japanese retailers including VIC Camera, Kojima, and SofMap, that the early notification will be made abroad. Dell announced that the Inspiron 12 will be shipped globally by late November.

The Mini 12 seemingly, creates a new market for general-purpose users, who are on the search for more screen real estate but aren't ready to pay over a thousand dollars for it. The screen suggests 1,280-by-800 resolution, higher than the typical 1,280-by-600 net-books. Its measure of shape is 9.0-by-11.8-by-0.92 inches and becomes thicker towards the back. The weight begins at 2.7 pounds, with a 3-cell battery. A 6-cell battery is going to be available at a later stage, which will probably bring the weight to over 3 pounds. vista_1__Nettekeyif.net.jpg

Such as the Mini 9, the new Mini runs Intel's Atom platform: The 1.33-GHz Z520 and the 1.6-GHz Z530. The Mini 12 is one of several systems to run Windows Vista Basic, which will be the only option for operating systems at this stage.

The Dell Inspiron Mini 12 features a 12.1 inch display, built-in web-cam, 1GB of RAM and a option of 60 GB or 80 GB HDD, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi.

The feature set of Mini 12 contains three USB ports. They include a multi-card reader, Ethernet, VGA-Out, and a 1.3-mega pixel camera. Hard drives aren't the meager solid state ones provided on the Mini 9. Although it doesn't have the antenna infrastructure to support WWAN, an empty slot is available for it, similar to the Mini 9.

At present, Dell has contracts with both Telstra and Vodafone with regard to embedded 3G in its regular-sized notebooks. The 3G card specified for the Mini 12 is also rated for 7.2Mbps on both the 850MHz Next G and 2100MHz 3G bands.
