Windows Vista: Microsoft Claims that Customer Satisfaction is Rising

green-world-thumb6243072.jpgMicrosoft Asia Pacific has replied to researchers claims that enterprise chief information officers "have not warmed up to the Vista operating system over the past year."

Researchers from the northern hemisphere reported that the CIOs they surveyed just a while ago voted 11 to one against plans to implement Vista. The researchers decided that "CIOs and other heads of IT still believe there is little business value in migrating from XP to Vista, notably in the current economic climate."

According to Richard Francis, General Manager, Windows Client Group, Microsoft Asia Pacific, sales of Windows Vista licenses have passed 180 million since release. In addition, at least 100 million Windows Vista users have hit Windows Update actively.

Francis added that in the first six months of the year 2008, Windows Vista had 23 per cent fewer vulnerabilities than Windows XP, and 21 per cent fewer high-severity vulnerabilities. He declared that more than 77,000 components and devices are presently supported by Windows Vista SP1, triple the number Microsoft supported at release.

He also claimed that they have received positive feedback from their enterprise and SMB customers in APAC who have experienced the business benefits of Windows Vista. Francis also added that the history of the operating system life-cycle evidently suggests a growth in deployment 18 months into the release and close to the release of SP1.

He assured that this is the right time and they are seeing customers starting to deploy, mainly with Windows Vista SP1.

Francis revealed that Windows Vista satisfaction is in fact growing over time. Research showed that customer satisfaction levels have grown among those who purchased Windows Vista over the last six months. Also, this data illustrates that favorability grows as people become more familiar with it.

According to Francis, they are also on track with a faster rate of deployment in the enterprise compared to past issues that include Windows XP and Windows 2000 within the same time-frame.monitor-thumb3553443.jpg

At the end of his speech Francis said that as a trusted partner to their customers, they are delivering the technologies they need to optimize the performance of their IT investments during these challenging economic times.

He concluded that the combination of the Microsoft Desktop Optimization Pack (MDOP) and Windows Vista provides customers with the tools necessary to support more flexible work environments for their users, while making it easier and more effective to manage and maintain their networks.
